Tuesday, April 30, 2013 MCFRS is planning to accept applications between May 1st and May 17th, 2013, for the position of Firefighter/Rescuer I (Recruit). To have their applications considered, an individual must be 17½ at the time of application, a US Citizen or permanent resident, possess a High School diploma or GED, and have a valid drivers’ license (non-provisional). Applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be invited to take the written examination, which is tentatively scheduled for June 6th and 7th, 2013. Shortly after the job announcement closes, applicants will be notified via email of their exam date. Applicants will also be provided with instructions on how to access a study guide and the required background packet. All applicants are required to present copies of specific documentation (drivers’ license, birth certificate, diplomas, proof of residency, social security card, etc.) on the day of the written exam, and must present originals of the same documentation if selected for a background review. If they do not have this documentation, they should request replacements now, as they will not be permitted to take the written exam without that documentation. The hiring process includes a written exam, oral interview, background review, medical exam, and the CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test). Applications will be accepted only online at www.montgomerycountymd.gov - click on Careers/Jobs. A 55 person Recruit Class is planned for January 2014, pending Montgomery County Council approval. Additional Recruit Classes may also be added.
Saturday, December 22, 2012 Tonight at 1733 units from the 3rd Battalion were dispatched to 8617 Camille Drive in 33's first due for a house fire with people trapped. Engine 733 arrived to find a well involved attached garage and reports of people running in and out of the house. First in units made an aggressive attack on the fire keeping the bulk confined to the area of origin. Searches were proved negative and no civilian injuries were reported. Saturday, December 22, 2012 Tonight at 2117 hours units from the First Battalion were dispatched to 15216 Rockport Drive in 24’s first due for a house fire. Additional information from ECC advised that it sounded like a working fire and people were running in and out of the house. E-724 arrived to find a large two story single family with fire from the Charlie side. Further investigation found it to be a chimney with fire with extension throughout the house. Command then dropped the Taskforce bringing additional manpower to the scene. First in units quickly knocked the bulk of the visible fire while the Truck Companies opened up the walls to expose the fire running the walls. Units were out a few hours with overhaul and salvage Engines 724, 725, 715, 718, 704 Trucks 715, 725 and 718 Rescue 2
Friday, December 21, 2012 Today around 1845 units from the 4th Battalion were hit out for the box assignment at 3028 Bel Pre Road in 25's first due. Units arrived with a working fire, shortly after a Taskforce was struck bringing in additional manpower. No other info available.
Friday, December 21, 2012 Today at 0734 hours units from the 4th and 1st Battalions were dispatched to 11151 Veirs Mill Rd for a reported basement fire in a commercial structure. Units arrived to find a working basement fire in a vacant music store. After getting a knock crews were out several hours with overhaul. Engines 718, 705, 719, 721 and 754 Trucks 718, 719 and 716 Rescues 2 and 1
Thursday, December 20, 2012 At approximately 2200 hours on December 20th, Company 15 units were alerted to 11400 Cherry Hill Rd (Co. 12s area) for the report of fire from the roof. T715 arrived first reporting fire showing from the roof of the 3 story garden apartment building and correcting the address to 11406 Cherry Hill Rd. T715 laddered the building and began opening for the engine company while RS715 performed a primary search of the building and controlled utilities before assisting T715 with roof operations while PE715 stood by on the 3rd floor.
Sunday, December 2, 2012 Tonight around 0730 units from Battalion One were alerted to respond to 8750 Georgia Avenue at the Georgian Towers Apartments for the building fire. Units arrived to find a working fire in the trash chute and had smoke on multiple floors. The incident wen't to a Taskforce and units were out a few hours with overhaul and smoke removal. Engines - 701, 719, 702, 754, 716, 707 and 705 Trucks - 716, 719, 734, 718 and 706 Rescues 2, 1 and PG 1 Battalion Chiefs 701 and 702

Saturday, December 1, 2012 1. At approximately 0330 hours on November 24th, Rescue Squad 715 was alerted along with other units to the area of Bonifant Rd. and Notely Rd. (Co. 724's area) for the report of one overturned with one pinned partially underneath the vehicle. Initial units arrived on scene and confirmed the report. Crews went to work stabilizing the vehicle before lifting the vehicle off of the patient and then removing a door to free the patient from the vehicle. 2. At approximately 0400 hours on November 25th, RS715 was alerted with other units to the area of Columbia Pike and Stewart Lane (Co. 12s area) for a personal injury collision. While enroute units were updated with a report of one trapped. Units arrived on scene at northbound Columbia Pike and Stewart Lane to find one vehicle on its side with one patient trapped in the vehicle. Crews went to work stabilizing the vehicle and then extricating the patient. 3. At approximately midnight on Friday, November 30th, Company 15 units were alerted to Columbia Pike in the area of Tech Road for the personal injury collision with confirmed entrapment. Units arrived on scene and Columbia Pike and Industrial Parkway to find a 3 vehicle collision, with one patient trapped in a vehicle. RS715 went to work stabilizing the vehicle and then removed both driver's side doors and the "B" post to extricate the patient while PE715 handled hazards and assisted with patient care. 4. Then at approximately 0330 hours RS715 was alerted with Company 24 units to the 13200 block of New Hampshire Ave for a personal injury collision, this time with reports of one overturned. Crews arrived to find one vehicle on its wheels and went to work stabilizing the vehicle before removing the driver's door and the roof to free the patient. 5. At approximately 0200 hours on Saturday, December 1st, Rescue Squad 715 was alerted to Columbia Pike and New Hampshire Ave for a personal injury collision. Units arrived on scene to find one vehicle against a concrete wall with one patient trapped in the vehicle. Crews went to work stabilizing the vehicle, then removing both passenger side doors and the "B" post before flapping the roof. 6. As crews were clearing around 0245 hours, Company 15 was alerted to Spencerville Rd and Kruhm Rd for another personal injury collision. PE715 arrived on scene to find one vehicle into a tree with one patient trapped in the vehicle. The Rescue Squad arrived and stabilized the vehicle before removing the driver's door to gain access to the patient. 7. November 28th Rescue Squad 715, Engine 724, Medic 715 and Ambo 724 handled an accident with one trapped on New Hampshire Ave and Colesville Manor Drive. Ambulance 724 came across this crash and accident for the full assignment. Crews extricated the PT in about 20 minutes and transported priority one to a local trauma center.

Sunday, November 25, 2012 This morning around 1033 around 1033 The Brothers on the B-Shift, Engine Companies 702 and 712 assisted PG County with a house fire at 2508 Van Buren Street in the 44 box. Sunday, November 25, 2012 Today at 1538 Units from the 2nd Battalion in Bethesda were dispatched to 9532 Fernwood Street for a house fire. Units arrived to find a working fire in an attached garage with extension throughout. A Taskforce was dropped immediately by Battalion 702 due to fire conditions on arrival. Crews worked all floors of this house fire extensively before bringing it under control. Engines 726, 710, 750, 723 and 720 Trucks 751, 710 and 723 Rescues 1 and 703 Battalion Chiefs 702 and 701
