SHENANDOAH (SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA): On July 12, 2012 at 07:20 hours the Shenandoah Fire Department, Mahanoy City Fire Department- West End Fire Company RIT Team, Nuremberg Ladder 581, Frackville Ladder 43-20 and Shenandoah Ambulance were dispatched to a house fire at 300 West New York Street in Shenandoah. Fire marshals arrived to find smoke coming from a row home in a narrow street. A light in the bathroom caught fire and extended into the ceiling and roof. Crews entered the home with hand lines and extinguished the fire. Truck crews from Shenandoah and Frackville went to the roof and opened it up above the fire to stop the extension. The fire was knocked down in fifteen minutes and fully under control in less an hour. The fire was the third working fire in Shenandoah in a week. It is also the third one for the new fire chief that just took office two weeks ago.
