MALE RESCUED FROM THREE ALARM FIRE IN SHENANDOAH

     

Saturday, July 7, 2012 SHENANDOAH (SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA): On July 7, 2012 at 21:40 hours the Shenandoah Fire Department, Mahanoy City Fire Department- West End Fire Company RIT Team, Frackville Ladder 43-20, Nuremberg Ladder 581 and Shenandoah Ambulance were dispatched to a working house fire with entrapment at 200 West Columbus Street in Shenandoah. The Shenandoah Police arrived to find a working fire in two homes with possible entrapment. Fire fighters used multiple exterior hose lines to attack the fire. An interior crew found the missing resident on the second floor. The victim was then removed from the second floor window by the standing by RIT Teams. The victim died while en-route to helipad to meet waiting helicopter.  The fire quickly spread and the incident went three alarms damaging three structures. The fire was knocked down in over an hour and fully under control in two hours.  Nuremberg Ladder 581 was diverted while responding to a working vehicle fire at an accident on the Main Street. The fire was the second working house fire in Shenandoah in two days. The fatal fire is the second fatal fire in Shenandoah this year.
