CHEMICAL FIRE IN BUCKS COUNTY RESULTS IN LODD FOR FIRE POLICE MEMBER

     

Wednesday, May 16, 2012 CHEMICAL FIRE – Bucks County, 5:02 a.m. 5/16/12 – A lighting strike caused a chemical fire at the Rohm and Haas Chemical Plant in Bristol Township. One bulk storage tank was set on fire. The fire was contained to a containment area with an unknown quantity released. The fire is now out and residents are advised to shelter in place. The Bucks County EOC has been activated. The Bristol Borough School District has closed for the day.  

 

Dave Wintz a Fire Police Captain was directing traffic at the scene he left the scene due to feeling sick and went home. He later called 911 and was rushed to Torresdale Hospital where he died.

Wintz was in his 60s and put in almost 50 years of service with the local fire company!

Two additional firefighters were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
